Pumpkin Glow Mandala

Yarn: Scheepjes, Catona colors used: 189- royal Orange, 252- watermelon, 281-Tangerine, 414-Vintage Peach, 524- Apricot or any fingering weight size 2 cotton yarn

Materials: US Size E/4 (3.5 mm) crochet hook, yarn needle, scissors, tape measure

Difficulty: Intermediate

Size: 8 ½” (21.59 cm) round

Gauge: 26 sts x 36 rows = 4” 910.16 cm)

Abbreviations and Stitches (U.S. Terms): ch – chain, dc – double crochet, rep – repeat, sc – single crochet, sk – skip, st(s) – stitch(es), tch – turning ch

Special Stitches: FPdc (Front Post Double Crochet): Yarn over, insert hook around post of stitch from front to back to front, yarn over, pull up loop, finish as dc

Picot: sc, ch 3, sl st in the first ch

Puff Stitch: (Yarn over, insert hook, pull up a loop) 4 times, yarn over, pull through all loops, ch 1 to close

Notes: Ch-3 counts as a stitch

Instructions:

Make a magic ring

Rnd 1: Ch 3 (counts as dc), 11 dc in ring, join with sl st to top of ch-3. (12 dc)

Rnd 2: Ch 3, dc in same st. 2 dc in each st around, join to beg ch-3., fasten off. (24 dc)

Rnd 3: Join yarn to any st, sc in same st as join, ch 3, *sk the next st, sc in the next st, ch 3; rep from *around. Join with sl st into first sc. (12 sc, 12 ch-3 sps)

Rnd 4: Sl st in ch-3 sp, ch 3, 3 dc in same sp as join, 4 dc in the next ch-3 sp and in each ch-3 sp around, join to beg ch-3, fasten off. (48 dc)

Rnd 5: Join yarn to the first dc of the 4-dc group, *FPdc around first dc, dc in next 2 dc, FPdc around last dc, ch 1; rep from * around. Join. (24 dc, 24 FPdc, 12 c-1 sps)

Rnd 6: Ch 1, sc in each dc and each ch-1 sp around, join to beg sc, fasten off. (60 sc)

Rnd 7: Join yarn to any st, *puff st in same sp as join, ch 2, sk next st, dc in next 2 sts, ch 2, sk next st; rep from * around, join to the top of beg puff st. (12 puff sts, 24 dc, 24 ch-2 sps)

Rnd 8: Sc into top of puff, *(3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next ch-2 sp, sc in each of next 2 dc, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in the next ch-2 sp, sc in the top of the next puff st; rep from * around, join to beg sc, fasten off.  (144 dc, 24 ch-2 sps, 36 sc)

Rnd 9: Join yarn to any ch-2 sp, sc in same sp as join, ch 4, *sc in the next ch-2 sp, ch 4; rep from * around, join to beg sc. (24 ch-4 sps, 24 sc)

Rnd 10: Sl st in ch-4 sp, ch 3, 4 dc in same sp, * sc in the next sc, 5 dc in the next ch-4 sp; rep from * around, join to beg ch-3. (24- 5 dc fans, 24 sc)

Rnd 11: Sc in same sp as join, sc in the next st, picot in the next st, *sc in the next 4 sts, picot in the next st; rep from * around, sc in the last 2 sts, join to beg sc, fasten off. (24 picot, 96 sc)

Weave in ends and for best results block.
