Granny Square Baby Blanket

Yarn: Bingo yarn by Hobbii (100 g/3.5 oz), 2 skeins of #23 thee and me, 2 skeins of #02 little duck

Materials: US Size G/6 (4 mm) crochet hook, measuring tape, yarn needle, scissors.

Difficulty: Beginner

Size: 34” (86.3 cm) X 34” (86.3 cm)

Gauge: 17 sc and 20 rows = 4 x 4 inches

Stitch Guide: ch(s) - chain(s), dc- double crochet, sc-single crochet

Notes: Chain 3 counts as a stitch                                                     This pattern is written with color changes and is written in U.S. terms

Instructions:

Make a magic circle

Rnd 1: Ch 3, 2 dc in circle, ch 2, * 3 dc in circle, ch 2, repeat from * two more times, join to beg ch 3.  (12 dc, 4 ch-2 sps)

Rnd 2: Sl st to the next ch-2 sp, ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in the same sp, (corner made), * ch 1, ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in the next ch-2 sp; repeat from * two more times, join to beginning ch 3. (24 dc, 4 ch-2 sps, 4 ch-1 sps)

Rnd 3: Sl st to the next ch-2 sp, ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in the same sp, * ch 1, 3 dc, in the next ch 1 sp, ch 1, 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in the ch 2 corner sp, repeat from * around, join to beg ch-3. (36 dc, 4 ch-2 sps, 8 ch-1 sps)

Rnd 4: Sl st to the next ch-2 sp, ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in the same sp, *(ch 1, 3 dc, in the next ch 1 sp, ch 1) across to the next c-2 corner sp, 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in the ch 2 corner sp, repeat from * around, join to beg ch 3, finish off.

Rnd 5: Join new color in any ch-2 corner sp, ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in the same sp, *(ch 1, 3 dc, in the next ch 1 sp, ch 1) across to the next c-2 corner sp, 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in the ch 2 corner sp, repeat from * around, join to beg ch 3

Rnd 6: Sl st to the next ch-2 sp, ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in the same sp, *(ch 1, 3 dc, in the next ch 1 sp, ch 1) across to the next c-2 corner sp, 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in the ch 2 corner sp, repeat from * around, join to beg ch 3, finish off.

Rnd 7: Repeat Rnd 5

Rnds 8-10: Repeat Rnd 6 (fasten off after Rnd 10)

Rnd 11: Repeat Rnd 5

Rnd 12: Repeat Rnd 6

Rnd 13: Repeat Rnd 5

Rnds 14-16: Repeat Rnds 8-10 (Fasten off after Rnd 16)

Rnd 17: Repeat Rnd 5

Edging: (worked around the blanket)

Rnd 1: Join a new yarn in the st to the left of any ch-2 corner sp, *sc in the same st as join, sc in each st and ch-1 sp across to the next corner ch-2 sp, 3 sc in the corner ch-2 sp; repeat from * around, join to beg sc. (552 sc total, 135 on each side and 3 in each corner)

Rnd 2: Sc in each st around, join to beg sc. (552 sc)

Rnd 3: Ch 1, (sc, ch 3, 3 dc) in the same st, sk 2 sts, *(sc, ch 3, 3 dc) in the next st, skip 2 sts; Repeat from * around, join to beg sc. Fasten off, weave in ends.
