Granny Triangle Shawl

Yarn: 2 skeins-red door fibers- Cottage fingering 437yds/100gms, (50% SW Merino/50% silk)  Color: Horse of a Different Color. *see notes about yarn.

Materials: US Size F/5 (3.75 mm) crochet hook, yarn needle, scissors, tape measure

Difficulty: Easy

Size: Wingspan 60” (152.4 cm) - Depth 29” (73.66 cm)

Gauge: 26 sts x 33 rows = 4” (10.16 cm)

Abbreviations and Stitches (U.S. Terms): beg – beginning, ch – chain, dc – double crochet, st(s) – stitch(es)

Notes: Ch-4 counts as a dc and ch-1

*this pattern can be done in different yarn weights, the amount of yarn used and the size of crochet hook will vary. Using a DK or worsted weight yarn will make a warmer shawl. 

Instructions:

Make a magic circle or ch 4 and sl st to the 1st ch to form a circle

Row 1: Ch 4, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 1, dc) in the circle, turn

Row 2: Ch 4, 3 dc in the first ch-1 sp (ch-1 sp made by beg ch-4), ch 1, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in the ch-2 sp, ch 1, 3 dc in the last ch-1 sp, dc in the 3rd ch of beg ch-4, turn

Row 3: Ch 4, 3 dc in the first ch-1 sp (ch-1 sp made by beg ch-4), ch 1, 3 dc in the next ch-1 sp, ch 1,  (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in the ch-2 sp, ch 1, 3 dc in the next ch-1 sp, ch-1, 3 dc in the next sp, ch 1, dc in the 3rd ch of beg ch-4, turn

Row 4: Ch 4, 3 dc in the first ch-1 sp (ch-1 sp made by beg ch-4), ch 1, (3 dc, ch 1) in each ch-1 sp to the  ch-2 sp, (3 dc ch 2, 3 dc) in ch-2 sp, ch-1, (3 dc, ch 1) in each ch-1 sp to the last ch-1 sp,  3 dc in the last ch-1 sp, ch 1, dc in the 3rd ch of beg ch-4, turn

Rows 5-55: Continue as for row 4, with (3 dc, ch 1) in each ch-1 sp and (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in ch-2 sp.
