Retro Mandala

May is one of those great months, the weather is good, not too hot not too cold and the flowers here are in bloom! This is the time of year when the we see the vibrant colors of Spring. Since April I have been trying to add more color to my life, so why not add a few colorful Mandalas? Mandalas are great crochet pieces to add a splash of color to your home! You can make them in any color combination and in all different sizes. This week's focus is color combinations of the past, oh how the colors of the 1970's bring back memories.

Here we go a skein, FOTH:

This Mandala pattern is great for crocheters of all levels and is a great stash buster since you can use small amounts of yarn in different color combinations to make your Mandala.

This retro 1980's mandala was done in Chunky thread by Lori Holt, the colors used were Cayenne, Beehive, Basil, Denim, and Peacock.

I have been looking for new decorating ideas to refresh my walls and mandalas are not only quick and easy, but they are fun to create. What do you think about a Mandala wall?

Crochet Mesh Tote

Its already May and the weather here is really starting to heat up! It is time to put on that summer mind, with trips to the farmers market, the beach, or maybe the lake! Wherever I go for the summer, my crochet projects will be with me! Are looking forward to hitting the farmers market, going to the beach, the lake, or just need a bag to carry your yarn and crochet supplies? This weeks crochet project is a mesh tote bag. The crochet mesh tote is airy, durable, and versatile, making it perfect for the farmers market, the beach, a trip to the lake, or just everyday use and it's a great summer project!

Here we go a skein, fresh off the hook:

                                      Crochet Mesh Tote

This quick and easy crochet mesh tote is made in one piece starting with an oval base, then the body, and finally the straps are added after the body is complete. The tote is done with basic crochet stitches and the pattern includes instructions for the large and small totes.

The large Tote works perfectly for a project bag and as you can see it can hold lots of yarn! (Currently it is holding 12-50g balls of fingering yarn and there is enough room for my small tool bag.

Lets start that summer crochet!

Have a hooky day! Lynne
