Hexa Bloom Granny

Do you love granny squares? We do because they are one of the most versatile things to crochet. From blankets and pillows to bags and other creative projects, granny squares are a great way to play with color and texture.

For the month of March, we will be sharing four different granny square patterns, each with its own unique style. Whether you enjoy floral designs, bold motifs, or modern textures, this selection of patterns has a little something for everyone. We're starting off with the Hexa Bloom Granny Square. This square features a six-petal flower that blooms right from the center, creating a bright and unusual design.

The Hexa Bloom Granny is a fun pattern that combines floral charm with classic granny square construction. The six-petal flower sits proudly in the center and is framed by the square shape, making it perfect for mixing and matching with other granny squares. Whether you plan to use it in a blanket, pillow, or a larger crochet project, this square adds a bright and cheerful touch.

One of the things that makes this square so enjoyable to crochet is how quickly the flower takes shape as you crochet. This pattern is great for crocheters of all skill levels since it is created with basic crochet stitches.

Throughout March, we’ll be sharing three more new granny square patterns. Each square has its own unique look and can be customized to create something uniquely your own.

Let’s get started with the Hexa Bloom Granny Square!

Easy Link Baby Blanket

The Linked Series is back, and this one might be my favorite yet! After the beanie and the cowl, it felt only right to bring that same smooth, polished texture into something soft and giftable, a one of a kind handmade baby blanket.

If you’ve already tried the linked double crochet in the Cozy Linked Beanie or the Soft Linked Cowl, you know how beautifully this stitch works up. It creates a fabric that’s smooth, slightly denser than traditional double crochet, and has that modern, clean finish that makes it great for baby blankets.

Here we go a skein fresh off the hook:

                                                      Easy Link Baby Blanket

This blanket was made using Premier Puzzle Yarn, a soft self-striping yarn that does all the color work for you. No changing colors, no extra ends to weave in, and no planning stripe placement. The gentle color transitions create modern stripes that show off the linked double crochet texture beautifully. It’s one of those yarns that makes you look like you did something complicated when really, you just kept stitching.

The smooth structure of the linked double crochet pairs especially well with self-striping yarn because the texture doesn’t break up the color flow. You get clean lines and soft blended transitions that feel cohesive and polished.

The linked double crochet stitch is great for baby blankets since it creates fewer gaps than regular double crochet, making it ideal for baby project. You still get the speed of a taller stitch, but the fabric feels a little more solid and cozy, without being stiff. It’s warm, soft, and has just enough structure to hold its shape beautifully.

If you’ve been following along with the Linked Series, this is the perfect next project to hook up. And if this is your first time trying linked double crochet, you’re going to love how smooth and satisfying it feels!
