D60 Scarf

Yarn: Tosh DK yarn-grapefruit by Madeline Tosh Yarns (1 skein was used for a 60” (152 cm) scarf with nothing left over, if you would like longer scarf 2 skeins will be needed)

Materials:

US Size H (5 mm) crochet hook (used for beginning chain only) and US Size G (4.50 mm) crochet hook, yarn needle, scissors.

Difficulty:

Beginner


Size:

Finished size - 5” (12.7 cm) X 60” (152 cm)


Gauge:

18 sc and 20 rows = 4” (10 cm)


Stitch Guide:

ch(s) - chain(s), dc-double crochet, st(s)-stitch(s), sl st-slip stitch, 


Notes: 

Ch-3 counts as as a stitch


Instructions:

With size H (5 mm) crochet hook chain 24


Row 1 (RS): using G (4.5 mm) crochet hook, dc in the 4th ch from hook and in each ch across, ch 1, turn. (22 dc)


Row 2: *1 dc in the first st, sl st in the next st; repeat from * ending with sl st in the top of beginning ch-3, ch 3, turn. (11 sl sts, 11 dc)


Row 3: *1 dc in the next dc, 1 dc in the next sl st; repeat from * across, ending with a dc in the turning ch-1 from row 1, ch 1, turn. (22 dc)


Repeat rows 2 and 3 until the scarf measures 60 inches (152 cm), (make sure to end with row 2 as this gives the scarf a ruffle edge). Don't forget to save some yarn to complete the edging on the other end of scarf.


Edging: this is done on the beginning chain end. With the wrong side of the scarf facing you, attach yarn to the first ch st, ch-1 and complete row 2 across.


Fasten off

Weave in ends and block
