Yarn: Chunky Thread by Lori Holt or Sport weight #2, 100% cotton yarn
Materials: US Size E/4 (3.5 mm) crochet hook, yarn needle, scissors, tape measureDifficulty: Easy
Size: 2¼” (5.71 cm) wide by 78” (198 cm)
long
Gauge: 18 sts = 4” (10.16 cm)
Abbreviations
and Stitches (U.S. Terms): ch
– chain, dc – double crochet, rep – repeat, rs- right side, sc – single crochet,
sk – skip, st(s) – stitch(es),
Notes: Ch 3 counts as a stitch
Instructions:
(Make 35 mini granny squares)
Make a
magic circle
Rnd 1: Ch
3, 2 dc, ch 2 in the circle, * 3 dc, ch 2, repeat from * two more times, join
to beginning ch 3, fasten off. (12 dc, 4 ch-1 sps).
Rnd 2:
Join new yarn to any ch-2 sp, ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in the same sp, (corner
made), *ch 1, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in the next space; repeat from * two more
times, ch 1, join to beginning ch 3,
fasten off. (24 dc, 4 ch-2 sps, 4 ch-1 sps).
Weave in
ends and block.
After
blocking the squares Join them together using the invisible join method. This
method creates a flat seam that is not visible, making the squares look like
they are seamlessly connected. B. Hooked Crochet has a great video explaining
the invisible join method.
Scarf
Edging:
Note: Scarf edging is worked around the entire
scarf.
Once the squares are joined, sc around the entire scarf, with the rs of the scarf facing you join yarn to the right hand corner, 2 sc in the same sp as join, sc in each st and sp to the next corner, 2 sc in the corner, turn scarf, now working along the long edge, sc in each st and sp to the next corner, 2 sc in the corner, sc in each st and sp to the next corner, 2 sc in the corner, turn, sc in each st and sp and join to beg sc, fasten off.
Decorative
Edging
Note: Decorative edging is done at each
end of the scarf.
Row 1: With the rs of scarf facing you,
join yarn to the right-hand corner, sc in the same sp as join, *ch 2, sk next
st, sc in next st; rep from * across, sc in the last st, turn
