Mandala Chair Pad

Yarn: Hoooked Ribbon XL (8.8 oz/130m/142 yds/250g per skein ): 1 skein of Bordeaux Violet per chair pad

Materials: US size N/P (10.0 mm) crochet hook, yarn needle, scissors

Difficulty: Easy


Size:

15” X 15” (38 cm X 38 cm)


Gauge:

8 sc and 8 rows = 4”


Stitch Guide:

ch(s) –chain(s), sc – single crochet, dc-double crochet, hdc-half double crochet, sl st-slip stitch, st(s) – stitch(es), RS – right side


Special Stitches:

2dc cluster- yarn over, insert hook into stitch indicated and pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through 2 loops on hook, yarn over, insert hook into the same stitch and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through 2 loops, yarn over and pull through all 3 loops


3dc cluster- yarn over, insert hook into stitch indicated and pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through 2 loops on hook,(yarn over, insert hook into the same stitch and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through 2 loops) two times, yarn over and pull through all 4 loops on hook.


Reverse sc (Crab stitch)-insert hook in the next stitch to the right, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through the 2 loops on the hook.


Notes:

Ch-3 counts as a stitch

Ch-1 does not count as a stitch


Instructions:

Make a magic ring

Round 1: (RS): Ch 3, 19 dc in the ring, join to the top of ch-3. (20 dc)


Round 2: Ch 3, dc in next st, ch 2, * dc in next 2 sts, ch 2; Repeat from * around, join to top of the beg ch-3. (20 dc, 10 ch-2 sps)


Round 3: Sl st to the next ch-2 space, (ch 3, 2dc cluster, ch 2, 3dc cluster ) in same ch-2 space, ch 2, * (3dc cluster, ch 2, 3dc cluster) in next ch-2 space, ch 2; repeat from * around, join to top of the beg ch-3. (20-3dc cluster, 20 ch-2 sps)


Round 4: Sl st to the next ch-2 space, (ch 3, dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in same space, (corner made)  ch 1, 2 hdc in the next ch-2 sp, (ch 1, 2 sc in the next ch-2 space) two times, ch 1, 2 hdc in the next ch-2 space, ch 1,  *( 2 dc, ch 2, 2dc) in next ch-2 space, ch 1, 2 hdc in the next ch-2 space, (ch 1, 2 sc in the next ch-2 space) two times, ch 1, 2 hdc in the next ch-2 space, ch 1; repeat from * around, join to the beg ch-3. (16 sc,16 hdc, 16-dc, 4-ch-2 sps, 20 ch-1 sps)


Round 5: Ch 1, sc in each st and chain space around working 3 sc in each corner ch-2 space, join to the beg sc. (80 sc)


Round 6: Ch 1, sc in each st around working 3 sc in the center sc of 3-sc corner, join to the beg sc. (88 sc)


Round 7: Sl st to the center sc of 3 sc corner group, (ch 4, dc, ch1, dc) in the same st, ch 1 *skip next st, (dc in the next st, ch 1, skip next st) to the center sc of the next 3 sc corner group, (dc, ch 1) three times in the corner st, ch 1; Repeat from * around, join to the 3rd ch of the beg ch 4. (53 ch-1 spaces, 53 dc)


Round 8: Ch 1, sc in the next ch-1 space, (sc, ch 2, sc) in the center dc of the 3 dc corner, sc in each ch-1 space and dc to the next corner, * (sc, ch 2, sc) in the center dc of the 3 dc corner, sc in each ch-1 space and dc to the next corner; Repeat from * around, join to the beg sc. (108 sc, 4 ch-2 sps)


Round 9: Sl st to the corner ch-2 space, * (hdc, ch 2, hdc) in the corner ch-2 space, hdc in the next st and in each st to the corner; Repeat from * around, join to the beg hdc. (116 hdc, 4 ch-2 sps)


Round 10: Reverse sc in each st and ch-2 space around, join to the reverse sc.(120 reverse sc)


Ties (make 2)

Ch 41, sl st in the 2nd chain from hook and in each chain across, end off, weave in ends. (40 slip stitches)
