Flower Mandala

Yarn: Pink flower: Drops Paris yarn #14 Strong yellow, #33 Medium Pink, #06 Shocking Pink, #11 Opal green and Acaucania Ulmo Solid  #767 Blue flower: Acaucania Ulmo Solid  #767 and Drops Paris yarn # 11 Opal Green, #06 shocking pink, #02 light turquoise, and #14 strong yellow Purple Flower: Drops Paris yarn #11 Opal Green, #14 strong yellow, #45 dusty orange, #8 dark purple, and #31 medium purple

Materials:
U.S. Size G (4mm) crochet hook, scissors, yarn needle

Difficulty: Advanced Beginner (Easy)

Finished Size:
9 inches (23 cm)

Stitches used: slip stitch (ss), single crochet (sc), half Double Crochet (hdc), double crochet (dc) treble or triple crochet (tr) Special Stitches: Back Post Double Crochet (BPdc)-Yo, insert hook from back to front to back around the next double crochet, (Yo, draw through two loops on hook) Twice. Puff stitch- *yo, insert hook into stitch indicated and pull up a loop; repeat from * two more times, yo and pull through all 7 loops on the hook, ch 1 to close the stitch. Notes about pattern: This pattern is written in U.S. terms. Color changes are not listed in the pattern, as to leave the color creativity to you.

Instructions:

Start with a magic circle

Rd 1: ch 1, 10 sc in the circle, join to beg sc (10 sc) (ch-1 does not count as a st)

Rd 2: join yarn to any st, puff st in same st as join, puff st in each st around, join to beg st, fasten off. (10 puff sts)

Rd 3: Join yarn with a ss to the top of any puff st, *ch 7, ss in the top of the next puff st; repeat from * around to the last puff st, ch 7, join to beg st, fasten off. (10 ch-7 sps, 10 ss)

Rd 4: Join yarn with sc to the 4th ch of any ch-7 from previous rd, * ch 5, sc in the 4th ch of the next ch-7; repeat from * to the last ch-7, sc the 4th ch of ch-7, ch 5, join to the beg st, fasten off. (10 ch-5 sps, 10 sc)

Rd 5: Join yarn in any ch-5 sp, ch 3, 5 dc in the same sp, * sc in the next sc, 6 dc in the next ch-5 sp; repeat from * around, join to beg ch-3, fasten off. (60 dc, 10 sc)

Rd 6: Join yarn with a sl st in any sc, spike sc in ch-7 sp from rd 2 (over sts of rds 3 & 4), ch 3, * BPdc in the next 6 dc, tr in the ch-7 space from rd 2 (over sts of rds 3 & 4); repeat from * around, join to ch-3, fasten off. (60 BPdc, 10 tr)

Rd 7: Join yarn in any tr, * BPdc around the next 6 dc, sc in tr; repeat from * around, join to beg sc, fasten off. (60 BPdc, 10 sc)

Rd 8: Join yarn to any sc, sc in the same sp, * ch 8, sc in the next sc; repeat from * around, join to beg sc, fasten off. (10 ch-8 sps, 10 sc)

Rd 9: Join yarn to any sc, ch 4, * dc, tr, dc, in the 4th chain of the ch-8 of previous rd, ch 4, sc in the next sc, ch 4; repeat from * around, join to first chain of beg ch-4, fasten off. (20 ch-4 sps, 20 dc, 10 tr)

Rd 10: Join yarn in any tr st, * ch 6, dc in the next sc, ch 6, sc in the next tr; repeat from * around, join last ch-6 to the beg sc instead of tr st, do not fasten off. (10 sc, 10 dc, 20 ch-6 sps)

Rd 11: Join yarn in any ch-6 sp, ch 3, 4 dc in same sp, sc in the next st * 5 dc in the next ch-6 sp, sc in the next st; repeat from * around, join to beg st, fasten off, weave in ends. (20 sc, 100 dc)
