Cinderlight Mini Mandala

Yarn:
Patons Grace Cotton dk yarn, Colors used: Fiesta, Natural, Night, Beeswax, or any dk/ size 3 cotton yarn.

Materials: US Size F/5 (3.75 mm) crochet hook, yarn needle, scissors, tape measure

Difficulty: Easy

Size: 4 ½” (11. 43 cm) round

Gauge: 21 sc - 24 rows = 4" (10 cm)

Abbreviations and Stitches (U.S. Terms): beg – beginning, ch – chain, hdc - half double crochet, dc – double crochet, rep – repeat, rnd – round, sc – single crochet, sk – skip, st(s) – stitch(es)

Special Stitches: Back Post Double Crochet (bpdc)-Yo, insert hook from back to front to back around the next double crochet, (Yo, draw through two loops on hook) Twice.

Front Post Double Crochet (fpdc)-Yo, insert hook from front to back to front around the next double crochet, (Yo, draw through two loops on hook) Twice.

Notes: Ch 2 at the beginning of the round counts as a stitch.                             Ch 3 at the beginning of the round counts as a stitch.  

Instructions:

Make a magic ring.

Rnd 1: Ch 2, work 11 hdc in the ring, join to beg ch-2. (12 hdc)

Rnd 2: Ch 2, hdc in same st as join, 2 hdc in each st around, join to beg ch-2, fasten off. (24 hdc)

Rnd 3: Join a new yarn to any st, fpdc around the same st as join, bpdc around the next st, *fpdc around the next st, bpdc around the next st; rep from * around, join to beg fpdc, fasten off. (12 bpdc, 12 fpdc)

Rnd 4: Join a new yarn to any st, ch 2, hdc in the next st, ch 1, * hdc in the next 2 sts, ch 1; rep from * around, join to beg ch-2, fasten off. (24 hdc, 12 ch-1 sps)

Rnd 5: Join a new yarn to any st, ch 3, dc in each st and ch-1 sp around, join to beg ch-3, fasten off. (36 dc)

Rnd 6: Join yarn to any st, sc in same st as join, sc in the next 2 sts, fpdc around the next st, * sc in the next 3 sts, fpdc in the next st; rep from * around, join to beg sc, fasten off. (36 sc, 12 fpdc)

Rnd 7: Join yarn to the first st to the left of any fpdc, sc in same st as join, sc in the next 2 sts, ch 2, sk the next st, (the ch-2 should be above the fpdc from previous rnd), *sc in the next 3 sts, ch 2, sk the next st; rep from * around, join to beg sc, fasten off. (36 sc, 12 ch-2 sps)

Rnd 8: Join yarn to any ch-2 sp, sc in same sp, fpdc around the fpdc from rnd 6, sc in same sp, sc in the next 3 sts, *(sc, fpdc, sc) in the next ch-2 sp, sc in the next 3 sts; rep from * around, join to beg sc, fasten off. (60 sc, 12 fpdc)

Rnd 9: Join yarn to the first st to the left of any fpdc, sc in the next 4 sts, *fpdc around the fpdc in rnd 8, sc in the next 5 sts; rep from * around, join to beg sc, fasten off. (60 sc, 12 fpdc)

Weave in ends and for best results block.
