Parquet Stitch Baby Blanket

Yarn:
7 skeins of Yarn Bee 3.5 oz/ 100 g, Easygoing #120 frosting or any size 4 worsted weight yarn

Materials: US Size G/ 7 (4.5 mm) and H/8 (5 mm) crochet hooks, yarn needle, scissors, tape measure

Difficulty: Easy

Size: 36” (91.44 cm) by 36” (91.44 cm) 

Gauge: 12 sc x 15 rows = 4” (10 cm)

Stitch Guide: ch(s) - chain(s), hdc – half double crochet, sc- single crochet, dc - double crochet, st(s) - stitch(es)

Special Stitches: Parquet stitch: sc, ch 2, dc in the same st

Notes: Beginning chain 2 does not count as a stitch 

Blanket is done in multiples of 3 + 2, so if you would like a wider blanket you can add to the chain row                                                 

Instructions:

With the H/8 (5 mm) crochet hook chain 145

Row 1: Switch to the size 7 (4.5 mm) crochet hook sc in the 2nd ch from hook, ch 2, dc in the same st, * sk 2 chs, parquet st in the next st; repeat from * across, ending with a sc in the last st, turn. (46 sc, 45 ch-2 sps, 47 dc)

Row 2: Ch 2, dc in the first st *parquet st in the next ch 2 sp; repeat from * across, sc in the last st, turn. (46 sc, 45 ch-2 sps, 47 dc)

Repeat row 2 until the blanket measures 35” (89 cm) or desired length, the border will be about 1” wide and will make the blanket 36" (91.44 cm), do not fasten off.

Note: The border will be worked around the blanket

Foundation Rnd: Ch 1, 3 sc in the corner st, now working down the side of the blanket, sc evenly into the stitches at the end of each row down the side to the next corner, 3 sc in the corner st, working along the next side sc in each st to the next corner, 3 sc in the corner st, working along the next side sc in each st to the next corner, 3 sc in the corner st, for the last side you will be working on the last row of parquet st, work 2 sc in each ch-2 sp, hdc in each sc across, join to the beg sc.

Rnds 1-5: Ch 1, *3 sc in the corner sc (the 2nd sc of the 3 sc group), sc in each st down the side to the next corner; repeat from * around the blanket, join to beg sc.

After Rnd 5, fasten off,  weave in ends and for best results block.
