Hexagon Flower Table Runner

Yarn Stylecraft Classique Cotton DK yarn, 1 skein of main color (midnight blue) and various colors of yarn for the flowers. *Stylecraft has rebranded this yarn as Naturals organic cotton. Any cotton Dk yarn will work.

Materials US Size E-4 (3.5 mm) crochet hook, yarn needle, scissors.

Difficulty Easy 

Size  32” (81.28 cm) X 19” (48.26 cm) after blocking

Stitch Guide ch(s)-chain(s), sc-single crochet, dc-double crochet, st(s)-stitch(es)

Special Stitches: 3 dc cluster- yarn over, insert hook into stitch indicated and pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through 2 loops on hook,(yarn over, insert hook into the same stitch and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through 2 loops) two times, yarn over and pull through all 4 loops on hook.

Instructions: Hexagon Flower Motif (Make 65) Each motif is 2.25" (5.7 cm) by 2.25" (5.7 cm)

Make a magic circle

Rnd 1: Ch 1, 5 sc in the circle, join to beg ch-1, fasten off, (6 sc)

Rnd 2: Join yarn to any sc, dc cluster in the same st as join, ch 2, * dc cluster in the next st, ch 2; repeat from * around, join to beg cluster st, fasten off. (6 dc clusters)

Rnd 3: Join new yarn to any ch-2 sp, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in the same sp, dc in the top of cluster st, * (2 dc, c 1, 2 dc) in the next ch-2 sp, dc in the top of next cluster st; repeat from * around, join to beg dc, fasten off. (30 dc, 6 ch-1 sps)


Weave in ends and block each hexagon motif (this makes it easier to join them together). Since cotton yarn was used the hexagons were steamed blocked using an iron.


After blocking, layout hexagon motifs in desired pattern (see diagram below)

Join the hexagons together using the invisible join method.


Once the hexagons were joined in desired pattern, the table runner was blocked again to help with shaping.
