Crochet Summer Tote

Yarn: Lion Brand- Made with Love, 105AX-Over the Moon (color A), 110BN-Indigo for It! (color B), 098BB-Lychee white (color C) and , 114W- Red Red Wine (color A), 140X-Primrose Hill (color B), 122AF-Marvellous mushroom, (color C).

Materials: US Size H (5 mm) crochet hook, yarn needle, scissors. stitch marker

Difficulty: Easy                                  

Size: 12-½" (31.75 cm) by 12” (30.5 cm)                                                              

Stitch Guide: ch(s) - chain(s), sc- single crochet, dc - double crochet, st(s) - stitch(es)

Special Stitches: V Stitch (V st)- dc, ch1, dc in the stitch indicated.                                                                             

Instructions:                                                                                    With H (5 mm) crochet hook and color A chain 46

Note: from here you will be working around the ch 46 row (do not turn)                                                                                             Rnd 1: Sc in the 2^nd ch from hook and in each ch across, now working on the other side of ch, sc in each ch across, join to the first sc. (90 sc)

Rnd 2: Sc in each st around. (90 sc)

Rnds 3-4: Repeat Rnd 2. (90 sc)

Rnd 5: Ch 4 (counts and dc and ch-1), dc in the same st, * skip the next two sts, V st in the next st; repeat from * around, join to 3^rd ch of beg ch-4. (30 V sts)

Rnds 6-10: Sl st to the sp between the next two V stitches, ch-4, dc in the same sp, * V stitch in the sp between the next V stitches; repeat from * around, join to the 3^rd ch of beg ch-4, fasten off. (30 V sts)

Rnd 11: Take a stitch marker and place it in the dc stitch on the side of the tote (see photo below), join color B, sc in each st and ch-1 sp around, remove stitch marker as you go, join to beg sc. (90 sc)

Rnds 12-14: Sc in each st around, join to beg sc. (90 sc)

Rnd 15: Repeat Rnd 5. (30 V sts)

Rnds 16-20: Repeat Rnds 6-10, fasten off. (30 V sts)

Rnd 21: Join color C, repeat Rnd 11. (90 sc)

Rnds 22-24: Repeat Rnds 12-14. (90 sc)

Rnd 25: Repeat Rnd 5. (30 V sts)

Rnds 26-30: Repeat Rnds 6-10, fasten off and weave in ends. (30 V sts)

Top of bag and Handles

Note: if you would like your handles longer increase the number of ch sts, the handles for this bag were done by chaining 70 which makes the handles 20” long (50.8 cm)

Rnd 31: Take a stitch marker and place it in the dc stitch on the side of the tote (see photo below), sc in each st and ch-1 sp around, remove stitch marker as you go, join to beg sc. (90 sc)

Rnd 32: Sc in the next 12 sts, ch 70, skip the next 19 sts, sc in the next st (joining the handle), sc in the next 24 sts, ch 70, skip the next 19 sts, sc in the next sc (joining the handle), sc in the next 13 sts, join to beg sc. (51 sc, 140 chs)

Now working on the outside of the handles (see photo below)

Rnd 33: Sc in each st and ch around, join to beg sc. (190 sc)

Rnd 34: Sc in each st around, join to beg sc, fasten off and weave in ends. (190 sc)

Now working on the inside of the handles (see photo below)

Rnd 35: Join yarn to the inside of the handle, sc across the top of the bag and in each st on the inside of the handle. (90 sc)

Rnd 36: Sc in each st across the top of the bag and inside of the handle, fasten off. (90 sc)

Now working on the other side of bag

Rnds 37-38: Repeat Rnds 35-36.

Weave in ends and block.
