Mandala: Colors of Summer

Yarn Patons- Grace, dk yarn, colors used: Aquifer, Lotus, Sunkissed, Viola, Cardinal, Blue Bayou, Snow

Materials      
US Size E-4 (3.5 mm) crochet hook, yarn needle, scissors.

Difficulty Easy   

Size  7.5” (19 cm) X 7.5” (19 cm)                            Stitch Guide ch(s) - chain(s), sc- single crochet, dc - double crochet, hdc-half double crochet, st(s) - stitch(es)

Special Stitches: Front Post Double Crochet (fpdc): Yo, insert your hook from front to back to front around the post of the next stitch, yo, pull up a loop, yo, pull thru 2 loops on your hook, yo, pull thru remaining two loops on your hook                                                                                                      

Instructions:   Make a magic circle     

Rnd 1: Ch 4, dc in the circle, * ch 1, dc in the circle; repeat from * 6 more times, join to beg ch-3. (8 dc, 8 ch-1 sps)

Rnd 2: Ss in the next ch-1 sp, hdc in the same sp, fpdc around the next dc, *hdc in the next sp, fpdc around the next dc; repeat from * around, join to beg hdc. (8 fpdc, 8 hdc)

Rnd 3: Ss to the sp between the hdc and fpdc, hdc in the same sp, fpdc around the next st, *hdc, in the next sp, hdc in the sp between the hdc and fpdc, fpdc around the next st; repeat from * around, join to beg hdc, fasten off. (8 fpdc, 16 hdc)

Rnd 4: Join yarn to any st, sc in the same st as join, sc in each st around, join to beg sc. (24 sc) 

Rnd 5: Sc in the next 3 sts, 2 sc in the next st, *sc in the next 3 sts, 2 sc in the next st; repeat from * around, join to beg sc, fasten off. (30 sc)

Rnd 6: Join yarn to any sc, ch 2, *sk 1 st, (dc, ch 2, dc) in the next st; repeat from * around to beg ch-2, (dc, ch 2) in the same sp as beg ch-2, join to beg ch-2, fasten off. (15 ch-2 sps, 30 dc) 

Rnd 7: Join yarn to any ch-2 sp, ch 3, (dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in the same sp, * (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in the next ch-2 sp; repeat from * around, join to beg ch-3. (15 ch-2 sps, 60 dc)

Rnd 8: Join yarn to any ch-2 sp, sc in the same sp as join, ch 2, * sc in the sp between the dc groups, ch 2, sc in the next ch-2 sp, ch 2; repeat from * around, join to beg sc. (30 ch-2 sps, 30  sc)

Rnd 9: Ss to the ch-2 sp, 2 sc in the same sp, as join, * 2 sc in the next ch-2 sp; repeat from * around, join to beg sc, fasten off. (60 sc)

Rnd 10: Repeat Rnd 6. (30 ch-2 sps, 60 dc)

Rnd 11: Repeat Rnd 7. (30 ch-2 sps, 120 dc)

Fasten off, weave in ends and block
