Yarn Stylecraft Classique Cotton DK yarn (3.5 oz/201 yds/100g per skein) *Stylecraft has rebranded this yarn as Naturals organic cotton or any cotton Dk yarn.
Materials US Size 7 (4.5 mm) and E/4 (3.5mm) crochet hooks, yarn needle, scissors.

Stitch Guide ch(s) - chain(s), sc- single crochet, dc - double crochet, st(s) - stitch(es)
Instructions: Granny Squares (Make 2) Each square is 5-1/4" (13.3 cm) x 5-1/4" (13.3 cm)
Make a magic circle
Rnd 1: Using the Size 7 (4.5 mm) crochet hook, ch 3, 2 dc, ch 1 in the circle, *3 dc, ch 1, repeat from * two more times, join to beginning ch 3, fasten off- (4 dc clusters, 4 ch-1 sps)
Rnd 2: Join new yarn to any ch-2 sp, ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in the same sp, (corner made), *ch 1, 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in the next space, repeat from * two more times, ch 1, join to beginning ch 3, fasten off- (8 dc clusters, 4 ch-2 sps, 4 ch-1 sps)
Rnd 3: Join new yarn to any ch-2 corner sp, ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in the same sp, *ch 1, 3 dc, in the next ch 1 sp, ch 1, 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in the ch 2 corner sp, repeat from *around, ch 1, join to beginning ch 3, fasten off- (12 dc clusters, 4 ch-2 sps, 8 ch-1 sps)
Rnd 4: Join new yarn to any ch-2 corner sp, ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in the same sp, (ch 1, 3 dc, in the next ch 1 sp, ch 1) 2 times, *3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in the ch 2 corner sp, (ch 1, 3 dc, in the next ch 1 sp, ch 1) 2 times, repeat from *around, join to beginning ch 3, fasten off. (16 dc clusters, 4 ch-2 sps, 12 ch- 1 sps)
Rnd 5: Join new yarn to any ch-2 corner sp, ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in the same sp, (ch 1, 3 dc, in the next ch 1 sp, ch 1) 3 times, *3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in the ch 2 corner sp, (ch 1, 3 dc, in the next ch 1 sp, ch 1) 3 times, repeat from *around, join to beginning ch 3, fasten off. (20 dc clusters, 4 ch-2 sps, 16 ch- 1 sps)
Weave in ends and block each square
Making Pouch:
Joining squares: place the two granny squares wrong sides together, put a stitch marker in two corners.
Beginning in the left corner and working through both granny squares, join yarn, sc in the same sp as join, (see photo below) *sc in the next st and in each st and ch-1 sp to the next corner, 2 sc in the corner sp; repeat from * around to the next stitch marker, 2 sc in the corner sp with stitch marker. (the sp between the stitch markers will be the top of the pouch), remove st markers.
Rnd 1: Ch 1, sc in each sp and st around the top of the pouch, join to beg ch-1. (44 sc)
Rnd 2: Ch 2, sk 1 st, sc in the next st, ch 2: repeat from * around, join to beg ch-2. (22 ch-2 sps, 22 sc).
Rnd 3: Ch 1, 2 sc in the next ch-2 sp and in each ch-2 sp around, join to beg ch-1. (44 sc, 1 ch-1)
Rnd 4: Ch 1, *(sc, ch 3, sc) in the next st, sk the next st; repeat from * around, join to beg ch 1, fasten off, weave in ends.
Pouch drawstring: (Make 2)
Using the E/4 (3.5 mm) crochet hook, ch 85, fasten off and weave in ends. Weave the drawstrings through the ch-2 sps from Rd 2.
Note: you can also use ribbon, twine or braided cord for a drawstring.
