Harvest Bloom Mandala

Yarn: Scheepjes, Catona, colors used: 106- Snow White, 110-Jet black, 189-Royal Orange, 242- Metal Grey, or any fingering weight size 2 cotton yarn

Materials: US Size E/4 (3.5 mm) crochet hook, yarn needle, scissors, tape measure

Difficulty: Easy

Size: 8 ½” (21.59 cm) round

Gauge: 26 sts x 36 rows = 4” (10.16 cm)

Abbreviations and Stitches (U.S. Terms): beg – beginning, bet – between, ch – chain, dc – double crochet, hdc – half double crochet, rep – repeat, sc – single crochet, sk – skip, sp – space, st(s) – stitch(es),

Special Stitches: fphdc (front post half double crochet): yarn over, insert hook around post from front to back to front, complete hdc.    fpdc (front post double crochet): yarn over, insert hook around post from front to back to front, complete dc.                                                Picot: ch 3, sl st in first ch

Notes: Ch 3 counts as a stitch

Instructions:

Make a magic ring

Rnd 1: Ch 2, 11 hdc in the ring, join to beg ch-2. (12 hdc)

Rnd 2: Hdc in same st as join, ch 1, *hdc in the next st, ch 1; rep from * around, join to beg hdc, fasten off. (12 hdc, 12 ch-1 sps)

Rnd 3: Join a new yarn to any ch-1 sp, ch 4, dc in same sp as join, (dc, ch 2, dc) in each ch-1 sp around, join to 3rd ch of beg ch-4. (24 dc, 12 ch-1 sps)

Rnd 4: Sl st in the first ch-2 sp, *3 dc, picot, 3dc in same sp, sc in next ch-2 sp; rep from * around, join to beg dc, fasten off. (36 dc, 12 sc, 6 picot)

Rnd 5: Join yarn to any picot st, ch 4, * fphdc around the next sc, ch 4, sc in the next picot st; rep from * around, join to beg sc. (6 fphdc, 6 sc)

Rnd 6: sl st to ch-4 sp, ch 3, 2 dc, ch 1, 3 dc in same sp, *(3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in the next ch-4 sp; rep from * around, join to beg ch-3, fasten off. (72 dc, 12 ch-1 sps)

Rnd 7: Join yarn to any ch-1 sp, sc in same sp as join, ch 3, sc in the sp bet 3-dc groups, * ch 3, sc in ch-1 sp, ch 3, sc in sp bet the 3-dc groups; rep form * around, join to beg sc. (24 ch-3 sps, 24 sc)

Rnd 8: Sl st in the first ch-3 sp, sc in same sp as join, ch 3, *sc in the next ch-3 sp, ch 3; rep from * around, join to beg sc, fasten off. (24 ch-3 sps, 24 sc)

Rnd 9: Join yarn to any ch-3 sp, (dc, ch 1, dc) in same sp as join, fpdc around the next sc, *(dc, ch 1, dc) in next ch-3 sp, fpdc around the next sc; rep from * around, join to beg dc, fasten off. (48 dc, 24 ch-1 sps, 24 fpdc)

Rnd 10: Join yarn to any ch-1 sp, ch 4, dc in same sp, sc in the next fpdc, *(dc, ch 1, dc) in the next ch-1 sp, sc in the next fpdc; rep form * around, join to the 3rd ch of beg ch-4. (48 dc, 24 ch-1 sps, 24 sc)

Rnd 11: Join yarn to any ch-1 sp, sc in same sp as join, ch 4, * sc in the next ch-1 sp, ch 4; rep from * around, join to beg sc. (24 ch-4 sps, 24 sc)

Rnd 12: Sl st in the first ch-4 sp, (ch 3, dc ch 1, 2 dc) in same sp as join, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in the next ch-3 sp and in each ch-3 sp around, join to beg ch-3, fasten off (96 dc, 24 ch-1 sps)

Rnd 13: Join yarn to any ch-1 sp, sc in same sp as join, ch 2, sc in sp bet 2-dc group, ch 2, *sc in the next ch-1 sp, ch 2, sc in the sp bet 2-dc group, ch 2; rep from * around, join to beg sc. (48 ch-2 sps, 48 sc)

Rnd 14: sl st in the first ch-2 sp, ch 4, dc in same sp as join, *sc in the next sc, (dc, ch 1, dc) in the next ch-2 sp; rep from * around, join to the 1st ch of beg ch-4, fasten off. (96 dc, 48 ch-1 sps, 48 sc)
