Vintage Crochet Coaster

This very popular coaster pattern has been going around on the internet for years! I have seen it done in many different colors and with different stitch variations.

This pattern is great for a few different reasons. It is one of those patterns that have stood the test of time since it was originally printed in 1893, it can be made to look vintage or modern depending on the yarn used, and it is quick and easy to make.

Information about this pattern can be found at: Round Motif Reworked From 1893 Crochet Pattern | SM Crafts (sandimarshall.com)

I love to make these coasters in cotton yarn, especially organic or repurposed yarn as these yarns keep the vintage vibe and are good for coasters.

The Red Coasters were made in yarn by CEWEC, CPH, it is a recycled jeans yarn, the color #33. I made a set of 4 coasters from 1- 50g skein and have enough to make another set.

The natural coasters were made in Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton DK yarn, cream (769-098). Love how this makes the coasters look antique.

The blue jeans coasters were made from Lion Brand LB Collection Cotton Jeans yarn, Sun-bleached (474-1052)

As stated in the pattern, I did not create this pattern. It is originally from an 1893 pattern called “Crocheted Wheel for Tidy” and revised by Sandra Marshall of SM Crafts, see link above.

If you are beginning to think about what to make for holiday gifts, these coasters make nice gifts and are easy to make!

Have a hooky day!
Lynne
