Materials: US
Size 7 (4.5 mm) crochet hook, yarn needle, scissors, tape measure, stitch markers
Difficulty:
Easy
Size: Large Tote: 14” (35.56 cm) wide x 15” (38.1 cm) tall, Small Tote: 10 ½” (26.67 cm) wide x 11” (27.95 cm) tall not including handle
Gauge:15 sts x 18 rows
Abbreviations and Stitches (U.S. Terms): ch – chain, hdc – half double crochet, rep – repeat, sk – skip, sc - single crochet, st(s) – stitch(es)
Notes: Pattern is written in U.S. terms, Ch 3 counts as a stitch, for the handles ch-2 does not count as a stitch
Chain 51
Note: from
here you will be working around the ch 51 row (do not turn)
Rnd 1: Hdc in the 2nd ch from hook and in
each ch across, now working on the other side of ch, hdc in each ch across,
join to the first hdc. (100 hdc)
Rnds 2-4: Hdc in each st around, join to beg
hdc. (100 hdc)
Rnd 5: *ch 4, sk 2 sts, sc
in the next st; rep from * around, join beg ch-4 sp. (put a
stitch marker in the first ch-4 sp made, and move up with each rnd.)
Rnd 6: *ch 4, sc in the next ch-4 sp; rep
from * around, join to beg ch-4 sp.
Repeat Rnd
6 until for a total of 30 rounds or until the tote reaches 14 ½” (36.83 cm)
Top of

Rnd 1: Ch 2, hdc in the ch-4 sp, *2 hdc
in the next ch-4 sp; rep from * around, join to beg hdc.
Rnd 2: Ch 2, hdc in each st around, join
to beg hdc
Rnds 3-4: Rep Rnd 2
Handles:
For
handle placement put a stitch marker in the tote side st (see photo below)
Row 1: Join yarn to the 3rd st
to the right of the stitch marker, ch 2, hdc in the next 7 sts, ch 2, turn. (7
hdc)
*Remove
the stitch marker and place it on the opposite side (this is for handle
placement)
Row 2: Hdc in each st across, ch 2, turn.
(7 hdc)
Rep row 2 until the handle is the desired length, for the tote in the photo the handle is 18 ½” (47 cm) long.
Attach
handle to side with stitch marker
Fasten
off, weave in ends
Instructions:
Small Tote
Chain 37
Note: from
here you will be working around the ch 37 row (do not turn)
Rnd 1: Hdc in the 2nd ch from hook and in
each ch across, now working on the other side of ch, hdc in each ch across,
join to the first hdc. (72 hdc)

2-4: Hdc in each
st around, join to beg hdc. (72 hdc)
Rnd 5: *ch 4, sk 2 sts, sc
in the next st; rep from * around, join to beg ch-4 sp. (put a
stitch marker in the first ch-4 sp made, and move up with each rnd.)
Rnd 6: *ch 4, sc in the next ch-4 sp; rep
from * around, join to beg ch-4 sp.
Repeat Rnd
6 until for a total of 23 rounds or until the tote reaches 10” (25.4 cm)
Top of
