Modern Granny Square

Since Granny Square Day is in August every year, why not make every August Granny Square Month! Looking back at my post from August 17, 2023, I listed three reasons why Granny squares were so popular and here are a more few to add to the list:

1. Granny squares bring back childhood memories and remind many of simpler times.

2. They are beginner friendly, a great way to learn to crochet (even for kids!) and starting with granny squares can give you crochet confidence

3. Granny Squares are one of those crochet items that can go from Boho colorful to Elegant and lacy depending on the type of yarn used!

                                     Modern Granny Square

I call this the modern granny square since it is the traditional granny square with an added row of color in between, which makes the colors of the square pop! This is the same granny square pattern that was used for the One Granny Square Blanket.

It is still amazing to me how using different yarn colors gives each square a different look!

The pastel square was done in Patons Grace # 62205 Aquafer, #62040 Night, # 62622 Sunkissed and #62322 Viola.

The 1970's retro square was done in Patons Grace, #620222 Mocha, #62005 Snow, #62628 Fiesta, and #628622 Sunkissed.

The Americana square was done in Patons Grace #62005 Snow, #62134 Blue Bayou, and #62075 Cardinal.

This easy to make granny square would be good for Granny Square day!
